BP CEO says Kovykta sale talks with Gazprom dead
LONDON, Feb 3, 2009 (Reuters by Tom Bergin) - BP Plc (BP.L)said talks on the sale of the Kovykta gas field in Siberia to Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom (GAZP.MM) had ended. "It's not on the back burner but rather in the deep freeze," Chief Executive Tony Hayward told a conference call with reporters on Tuesday when asked about the talks. "We'll see whether we can reinvigorate that conversation but I wouldn't hold out too much hope." BP's Russian joint venture TNK-BP holds a controlling stake in the giant gas field.
