Gazprom, Sempra Energy to continue marketing Russian LNG in U.S.
MOSCOW, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) and Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) have agreed to continue joint marketing of Russian liquefied natural gas projects, including the Shtokman project, on the U.S. market, the Russian energy giant said Wednesday in a news release. Sempra Energy is North America's second largest gas supplier, with energy projects in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru; the company also sells gas to Europe. The California-based company is currently involved in the design and construction of LNG terminals in North America. On April 25, 2005, Gazprom and Sempra signed a memorandum on mutual understanding. The document envisages possible use of Sempra terminals as re-gasification facilities for selling Russian gas in the U.S.
